Jærmuseet har sidan 2020 vore med eit samarbeidsprosjekt om å utvikla vitensenteret Ziic i Liepaja i Latvia. Dette er finansiert av EØS-midlene og såkalla «Norway grants».
Ziic består av to avdelingar: Naturhuset, og ein Skaparverkstad.
Sommaren og hausten 2022 har Jærmuseet gjennomført to besøk i Latvia og begge gongene har me både hatt kurs for Latviske lærarar, og opplæring av dei tilsette på Ziic. På besøket i oktober var våre pedagogar og med som deltakarar på Ziic sine lærarkurs.
I slutten av august gjennomførte Science Circus og Vitengarden to lærarkurs. Vitengarden bygga humlekasser på Naturhuset, mens Science Circus hadde kurs i bruk av mikrokontrolleren micro:bit og korleis bruka desse i realfagsundervisning.
Besøk to blei gjennomført veka etter haustferien. Her deltok våre pedagogar på Ziic sitt lærarkurs den første dagen, og hadde lærarkurs sjølv dagen etter. Vitengarden hadde kurs i vindaktiviteter og vindturbinar. Nokså passande sidan Liepaja er kjend i Latvia som byen der vinden blir fødd.
Science Circus hadde lærarkurs i bruk av enkel mekanikk. Kursdeltakarane fekk prøva seg på å laga ein el-bil av papp, sugerøyr og blomsterpinner, samt å bygga ein hydraulisk gravemaskin styrt av sprøyter og slanger.
Dette besøket var ein del av prosjektet «Utvikling av innovasjonssenteret i Liepaja City», som er finansiert av Det europeiske økonomiske samarbeidsområdet og Norway Grant-programmet «Forskning og utdanning»
Cooperating project in Latvia
Since 2020, the Jærmuseet has been involved in a collaborative project to develop the science center Ziic in Liepaja in Latvia. This is financed by EEA funds and «Norway grants».
Ziic consists of two departments, Nature house , and a Makerspace.
In the summer and autumn of 2022, the Jærmuseet has visited two Latvia twice and both times had courses for Latvian teachers, and training for the employees at Ziic. On the visit in October, our pedagogues were also participants in Ziic’s teacher courses.
At the end of August, Science Circus and Vitengarden conducted two teacher courses in Liepaja. Vitengarden built Bumblebee houses at Nature house, while Science Circus had a course in using the micro:bit microcontroller and how to use these in science education.
Visit two was the week after the autumn holidays. Here, our pedagogues attended Ziic’s teacher’s course on the first day, and had a teacher’s course themselves the following day. Vitengarden had courses in wind activities and wind turbines. Quite fitting since Liepaja is known in Latvia as the city where the wind is born.
Science Circus had a teacher’s course in the use of simple mechanics. The course participants had a go at making an electric car out of cardboard, straws and flower sticks, as well as building a hydraulic excavator controlled by syringes and hoses.
This visit was a part of the the project «Development of the Innovation Centre in Liepaja City» that is funded by the European Economic Area and the Norway grant program «Research and Education». Its total cost is EUR 986 049.00, of which EUR 754 327.40 is co-financing of the Norwegian Grants, EUR 133 116.60 is co-financed by the State budget of Latvia and EUR 98 605.00 by Liepaja City Municipality.
