Seed mixture

Flowering meadows are beautiful and bloom throughout summer. They are also vitally important for pollinating insects.

Wild meadows or hay meadows were made up of local, indigenous plants and had a rich biological diversity. The composition of plants varied. But although the same plant could be found in a meadow on the coast and in a meadow in the mountains, the genetic material was often different. They were adapted to the conditions of the location and to interactions with other organisms. In order to preserve this biodiversity, it is important to use seed mixtures from areas close to where the new flower meadow is to be established. The mixture we have used has been provided by NIBIO (Norwegian Institute of Bioeconomy Research), and comes from seeds collected in Rogaland from plants typical of south-western Norway.
