North American F-86D\/K Sabre er en amerikansk natt-\/allv\u00e6rsjager videreutviklet med utgangspunkt i dagjageren F-86 Sabre. Selv om disse flyene fremst\u00e5r forholdvis like er kun 25% av delene p\u00e5 F-86D\/K gjenbruk fra dagjagervarianten. Allv\u00e6rsjageren har en lengde p\u00e5 11,9 meter, et vingespenn p\u00e5 12,5 meter og en topphastighet p\u00e5 1113km\/t. F-86D\/K skiller seg visuelt fra de \u00f8vrige Sabre varianter gjennom en st\u00f8rre flykropp og ved en radarkuppel like over luftinntaket. Takket v\u00e6re sin radar kunne flyet i teorien fly i all slags v\u00e6r, samt om natten. F-86D var forbeholdt amerikanske styrker, mens F-86K ble produsert for eksport til NATO-landene.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Norsk bruk<\/strong>
\nI 1955 mottok Norge sine f\u00f8rste North American F-86K Sabre gjennom den amerikanske v\u00e5penhjelpen. Dette var et meget avansert fly som amerikanerne f\u00f8rst ikke \u00f8nsket \u00e5 distribuere til sine allierte. Den kalde krig gjorde det imidlertid n\u00f8dvendig med en avansert allv\u00e6rs-\/nattjager ogs\u00e5 for vesteuropeerne. Med dette mottok Norge i alt 64 fly av typen. Mens F-86F hovedsakelig ble brukt i rollen som jagerbomber ble K’en utelukkende brukt i jagerrollen. Flyet var den f\u00f8rste allv\u00e6rsjageren i norsk tjeneste. Uavhengig av v\u00e6rforhold og tid skulle flyet ved hjelp av egen radar avskj\u00e6re og nedkjempe motstanderens luftstyrker. Flyet var ogs\u00e5 det f\u00f8rste jagerfly i norsk tjeneste med etterbrenner. De norske flyene var i tjeneste frem til juli 1967.<\/p>\n

Museets fly<\/strong>
\nMuseets fly ankom Gardermoen flystasjon som del av hovedleveransen 22. november 1955. Ved overleveringen til 337 skvadron hadde flyet kun 15:45 flytimer bak seg. Flyet ble tatt ut av operativ tjeneste allerede 21. august 1956 grunnet en tidligere buklanding. Flyet hadde kun 64:15 flytimer bak seg. Det ble s\u00e5 overf\u00f8rt LTS Kjevik som undervisningsmateriell. Flyet ble v\u00e6rende p\u00e5 Kjevik frem til det i 1977 ble satt p\u00e5 sokkel ved Lista Flystasjon. 18. mai 1985 ble flyet fjernet fra sin sokkel og fraktet til Flyhistorisk Museum Sola, som hadde f\u00e5tt disposisjonsrett p\u00e5 flyet.<\/p>\n
