Det&nbsp;ble produsert i utallige varianter og brukt over hele verden.&nbsp;Det lille helikopteret tok over for mye av den transporten&nbsp;sm\u00e5flyene tidligere hadde gjort. Det tok ogs\u00e5 oppdrag som&nbsp;fly ikke kunne brukes til. Det kan jo lande n\u00e6rmest hvor som&nbsp;helst. Den sivile versjonen av helikopteret har plass til to&nbsp;passasjerer, pluss flygeren som sitter i midten.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Under Koreakrigen (1950\u20131953) fikk helikopteret virkelig&nbsp;vist hvor nyttig det kunne v\u00e6re. Det utmerket seg spesielt&nbsp;med \u00e5 fly skadde soldater fra slagmarken og inn til feltsykehusene.&nbsp;Da l\u00e5 pasientene p\u00e5 b\u00e5rer p\u00e5 tverrstagene&nbsp;mellom helikopterets meier. Prototypen til Bell 47 fl\u00f8y&nbsp;f\u00f8rste gang i desember 1945. Helikopteret ble produsert&nbsp;i minst 5600 eksemplarer.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Norsk bruk<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Her i Norge ble Bell 47 tatt i bruk tidlig p\u00e5&nbsp;1950-tallet. Dette var i en tid hvor det norske&nbsp;flyv\u00e5penet ekspanderte og ble rammet av&nbsp;sv\u00e6rt mange flyulykker. Det samme skjedde&nbsp;ogs\u00e5 i en rekke andre land. I Storbritannia&nbsp;og USA hadde helikopteret allerede overtatt&nbsp;mye av rednings- og ambulanseflygingen.&nbsp;Det norske flyv\u00e5penet tok ogs\u00e5 i bruk&nbsp;helikopteret til dette. De f\u00f8rste Bell 47&nbsp;kom til Norge i 1953, samtidig som de&nbsp;f\u00f8rste norske helikopterflygerne var ferdig&nbsp;utdannet.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I tillegg til den milit\u00e6re redningsberedskapen&nbsp;for jagerflygerne, ble helikoptrene brukt&nbsp;til sivil ambulanseflyging. De var for sm\u00e5 og&nbsp;svake til \u00e5 utstyres med redningsheis, de&nbsp;hadde begrenset l\u00f8fteevne og kort rekkevidde.&nbsp;Det norske forsvaret brukte likevel&nbsp;Bell 47 fram til 1971. Det siste milit\u00e6re&nbsp;helikopteret av denne typen som ble satt&nbsp;p\u00e5 bakken, hadde siden april 1953 loggf\u00f8rt&nbsp;7177 flytimer.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jaermuseet.no\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2013\/10\/Bell47.jpg\" alt=\"Fotosamlingen til Flyhistorisk Museum Sola, J\u00e6rmuseet\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Fotosamlingen til Flyhistorisk Museum Sola, J\u00e6rmuseet<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Museets eksemplar<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bell 47 ble ogs\u00e5 brukt av flere sivile&nbsp;helikopterselskaper. Selskapene som&nbsp;brukte det mest i Norge var Helikopter&nbsp;Service,&nbsp;M\u00f8refly&nbsp;og Helilift. Museets&nbsp;helikopter er en Bell 47G som ble lisensbygd&nbsp;i England av&nbsp;Westland&nbsp;Aircraft i&nbsp;1967. Det startet tjenesten i Jemen hvor det&nbsp;ble brukt i kamp mot oppr\u00f8rsstyrker. Senere&nbsp;ble helikopteret solgt til Sverige hvor det ble&nbsp;brukt av kommersielle akt\u00f8rer fram til&nbsp;21. august 1982. Denne dagen havarerte&nbsp;det like etter avgang fra&nbsp;Adostr\u00f6m&nbsp;i&nbsp;Nord-Sverige. Helikopteret fikk&nbsp;ikkje&nbsp;tilstrekkelig oppdrift og m\u00e5tte n\u00f8dlande&nbsp;p\u00e5 innsj\u00f8en&nbsp;Iraft. En av passasjerene&nbsp;druknet.
