{"id":2192,"date":"2021-10-07T15:36:34","date_gmt":"2021-10-07T13:36:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.jaermuseet.no\/flyhistorisk\/?p=2192"},"modified":"2021-10-26T09:32:11","modified_gmt":"2021-10-26T07:32:11","slug":"arne-madsen","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.jaermuseet.no\/flyhistorisk\/arne-madsen\/","title":{"rendered":"Arne Madsen"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"block-187d81fd-e488-4911-ab8e-280b383352d3\">Jagerflyger p\u00e5 1950- og 1960-tallet<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Arne Madsen ble f\u00f8dt sommeren 1932 og vokste opp i Oslo n\u00e6r Majorstuen. Arne p\u00e5peker at han allerede hadde flyinteressen p\u00e5 plass f\u00f8r krigen, men at krigen var med p\u00e5 \u00e5 forsterke interessen for fly og flygning. Etter hvert var det ikke s\u00e5 mye annet som stod i hodet p\u00e5 han. Da han begynte p\u00e5 Gymnaset var flyinteressen s\u00e5 sterk at han brukte alle sparepenge sine p\u00e5 flytimer.. Han husker spesielt godt tilbake til den fabelaktig morsom vinterflyvning p\u00e5 Bogstadvannet med fly utstyrt med ski.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Arne var aldri i tvil p\u00e5 hva han skulle gj\u00f8re i det han ble gammel nok til \u00e5 s\u00f8ke Flyskolen, han skulle s\u00f8ke. Som sagt s\u00e5 gjort. Da han var ferdig med real artium v\u00e5ren 1951 s\u00f8kte han Flyskolen og han ble kalt inn til opptak, men det skulle det ta lang tid f\u00f8r han fikk vite at han var kalt inn. P\u00e5 bakgrunn av de mange ulykkene som var p\u00e5 denne tiden, \u00f8nsket ikke moren hans at s\u00f8nnen skulle bli flyger. Da hun s\u00e5 konvolutten fra flyv\u00e5penet i postkassen gjemte hun den unna og unnlot \u00e5 fortelle s\u00f8nnen at han hadde f\u00e5tt innkallingen. Det gikk dermed et halvt \u00e5r f\u00f8r Arne omsider m\u00f8tte p\u00e5 opptak til Flyskolen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Etter \u00e5 ha kommet seg vel gjennom b\u00e5de opptakspr\u00f8ver og uttaksflygning, ble Arne sendt videre til USA og Colombus Ari Force Base i Mississippi utp\u00e5 h\u00f8sten 1952. Her gjennomf\u00f8rte han det vanlige flyprogrammet som bestod av element\u00e6rtrening p\u00e5 T-6 frem til mai 1953. Etter \u00e5 ha fullf\u00f8rt denne delen ble han og de andre elevene sendt med tog til Williams Air Force Base i Arizona for den avanserte treningen som ble flydd i T-28 og T-33. Deretter stod v\u00e5penskolen p\u00e5 Luke Air Force Base for tur hvor han innledningsvis fortsatte \u00e5 fly T-33 f\u00f8r han gikk over p\u00e5 F-84 Thunderjet. Etter fullf\u00f8ringen av v\u00e5penskolen p\u00e5 Luke v\u00e5ren 1953 reiste han sammen med sine norske kullkamerater p\u00e5 kull 53G med b\u00e5ten Stavangerfjord fra New York til Oslo. Arne minnes tilbake p\u00e5 dette som en fantastisk reise som var n\u00e6rmest som ferie \u00e5 regne.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Etter hjemkomsten og det obligatoriske tekniske kurset p\u00e5 F-84G Thunderjet ble han postet til 336 skvadron i mars 1954 for \u00e5 fly F-84G. Her ble han v\u00e6rende frem til han fl\u00f8y sin siste tur p\u00e5 336 skvadron 26. april 1956. Han dro deretter til Sola hvor han var blitt beordret for \u00e5 v\u00e6re med p\u00e5 \u00e5 sette opp 717 skvadron som snart skulle ta i bruk RF-84F Thunderflash.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">P\u00e5 kort sikt viste beordringen til Sola seg \u00e5 bli en stor skuffelse. De nye flyene var forsinket og flere av flygerne som var sendt til Sola for \u00e5 v\u00e6re med p\u00e5 innf\u00f8ringen av RF-84F Thunderflash ble sendt til V\u00e6rnes for \u00e5 v\u00e6re instrukt\u00f8rer p\u00e5 Fairchild Cornell i p\u00e5vente av de nye flyenes ankomst. Arne ble v\u00e6rende p\u00e5 V\u00e6rnes som instrukt\u00f8r p\u00e5 Flyskole et halvt \u00e5rs tid frem til han returnerte til Sola i det de nye flyene endelig begynte \u00e5 ankomme. Arne fl\u00f8y sin f\u00f8rste tur med RF-84F Thunderflash 12. desember 1956.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Etter to \u00e5r med RF-84F Thunderflash p\u00e5 Sola forlot Arne 717 skvadron for \u00e5 starte p\u00e5 den amerikanske testflygerskolen p\u00e5 Edwards Air Force Base i november 1958. Etter videreutdanningen i USA bar det hjem til Norge og Luftkrigsskolen p\u00e5 Fornebu. Deretter beordring til Bod\u00f8 og 334 skvadron for \u00e5 fly F-86K Sabre. Arne ble v\u00e6rende p\u00e5 334 skvadron i fire \u00e5r frem til han ble plukket ut til \u00e5 v\u00e6re med p\u00e5 evalueringsteamet som skulle pr\u00f8vefly og vurdere aktuelle kandidater til rollen som Norges nye jagerbombefly. Anskaffelsen av jagerbombefly p\u00e5 1960-tallet var det f\u00f8rste norske kj\u00f8pet av kampfly siden Vampire ble kj\u00f8pt i 1948.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">H\u00f8sten 1963 dro et lite evalueringsteam bestod av b\u00e5de flygere og teknikere til Edwards Air Force Base for \u00e5 pr\u00f8vefly og vurdere aktuelle flytyper med tanke p\u00e5 flyegenskaper og tekniske aspekt sett i et vedlikeholds perspektiv. Arne som var utdannet testflyger deltok med ansvar for dem s\u00e5kalte \u00abperformance\u00bb-delen av flygningen, mens Per Ekholdt hadde ansvaret \u00e5 gjennomf\u00f8re og vurdere den taktiske og operative delen av flyprogrammet.&nbsp; De tre flytypene som ble vurdert av evalueringsteamet var F-5, A-4 og F-104H.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">P\u00e5f\u00f8lgende sommer ble det besluttet at F-5 skulle bli Norges nye jagerbombefly og flytypen ble tatt i bruk i Luftforsvaret i 1966. Den f\u00f8rste skvadronen som ble satt opp med den nye flytypen var 336 skvadron p\u00e5 Rygge hvor Arne tjenestegjorde. Frem til han forlot Luftforsvaret til fordel for en flygerjobb i SAS i 1967 tjenestegjorde han p\u00e5 Rygge. I l\u00f8pet av denne perioden fikk han deriblant to henteturer til USA hvor han fl\u00f8y fabrikknye F-5 over Atlanterhavet fra USA til Norge.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Arne Madsenble intervjuet av Sondre B.
