{"id":1998,"date":"2020-11-18T18:26:44","date_gmt":"2020-11-18T16:26:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.jaermuseet.no\/flyhistorisk\/?p=1998"},"modified":"2020-11-18T18:33:13","modified_gmt":"2020-11-18T16:33:13","slug":"tor-honningsvag","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.jaermuseet.no\/flyhistorisk\/tor-honningsvag\/","title":{"rendered":"Tor Honningsv\u00e5g"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"block-187d81fd-e488-4911-ab8e-280b383352d3\">Flyger p\u00e5 maritimt patruljefly og jagerfly p\u00e5 1970- og 1980-tallet<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Tor Honningsv\u00e5g ble f\u00f8dt i T\u00f8nsberg i 1953. Oppveksten hans ble preget av hyppige flyttinger ettersom faren hans Karl-Fredrik Honningsv\u00e5g, var jagerflyger og yrkesoffiser. I l\u00f8pet av barndommen bodde Tor p\u00e5 Gardermoen i flere omganger, p\u00e5 Rygge, p\u00e5 \u00d8rland, p\u00e5 Sola og i USA. Han bestemte seg likevel for at han \u00f8nsket p\u00e5 bli flyger i s\u00e5 ung alder, at han i dag ikke husker n\u00e5r. Han p\u00e5peker at moren selvsagt hevdet han var milj\u00f8skadd.&nbsp; Hun var heller ikke spesielt glad for at eldstemann i s\u00f8skenflokken \u00f8nsket \u00e5 f\u00f8lge farens yrkesvalg. Etter at faren hadde lagt den operative flygningen p\u00e5 hylla og tr\u00e5dd inn i stabsjobber, hadde hun sett for seg at hun n\u00e5 hadde kommet seg gjennom perioden hvor hun m\u00e5tte g\u00e5 \u00e5 v\u00e6re engstelig for mannen som var ute \u00e5 fl\u00f8y, som ikke var rent lite risikabelt p\u00e5 denne tiden. N\u00e5 fikk hun i stedet en s\u00f8nn \u00e5 bekymre seg for, selv om ulykkesstatistikken var en helt annen n\u00e5r s\u00f8nnen begynte p\u00e5 Flyskolen enn det hadde v\u00e6rt p\u00e5 1950-tallet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tor begynte p\u00e5 Flyskolen rett etter at han var ferdig p\u00e5 gymnaset i 1972. Etter opptakspr\u00f8vene p\u00e5 Rygge ble han sendt videre til V\u00e6rnes hvor han gikk gjennom en fem ukers rekruttperiode etterfulgt av flyperioden som varte rundt \u00e5tte til ti uker. Deretter var turen kommet til et forkortet befalskurs f\u00f8r han og de andre flyskolelevene m\u00e5tte vente p\u00e5 ledige plasser i USA. Etter en periode p\u00e5 opsen p\u00e5 Gardermoen, ble Tor og tre andre elever sendt&nbsp; til USA. Etter \u00e5 ha v\u00e6rt i Texas noen uker for spr\u00e5kkurs og noen turer i T-41, en flytype som egentlig var en Cessna 172 malt i milit\u00e6re farger, gikk veien videre til Williams Air Force Base i Arizona. Her fl\u00f8y Tor f\u00f8rst jettreningsflyet T-37 Tweet etterfulgt av T-38 Talon. I desember 1974 fikk han vingen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Etter hjemkomsten til Norge fikk de nyutdannede flygerne h\u00f8re at to av dem skulle fly Hercules p\u00e5 335 skvadron og to Orion p\u00e5 333 skvadron. Hvem som skulle hvor ble avgjort med loddtrekning. Tor endte opp med Orion p\u00e5 333 skvadron. Det innebar at han etter kun et par uker p\u00e5 And\u00f8ya ble sendt tilbake til USA for \u00e5 videre utdannes til maritim patruljeflyflyger. Etter tre til fire nye m\u00e5neder i USA, var han tilbake p\u00e5 And\u00f8ya hvor han begynte overf\u00f8ringen til operativ status.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Selv om tjenesten p\u00e5 Orion var givende og sv\u00e6rt operativ, hadde han mest lyst til \u00e5 fly jagerfly, og bestemte seg ganske fort for at han skulle ta Luftkrigsskolen sa kjapt som mulig for deretter \u00e5 s\u00f8ke seg til en jagerflyskvadron. Han kom inn p\u00e5 Luftkrigsskolen i 1976 og ble uteksaminert sommeren 1979 etter tre \u00e5r. Han ble deretter beordret til 334 skvadron i Bod\u00f8 for \u00e5 fly CF-104 Starfighter. Ettersom han var krigsskoleutdannet, avanserte han raskt til kaptein og vingsjef.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Etter to \u00e5r ved 334 skvadron s\u00f8kte han seg til instrukt\u00f8rjobb p\u00e5 den nyopprettede Euro NATO Joint Jet Pilot Training p\u00e5 Sheppard Air Force Base i Texas. Dette var en nyopprettet flyskole som de fleste NATO-landene akkurat hadde g\u00e5tt sammen for \u00e5 etablere. Fremfor \u00e5 spre flyskoleelver fra de europeiske NATO-landene rundt omkring p\u00e5 tilfeldige amerikanske flyskoler i USA etter tilgjengelige skoleplasser, hadde det blitt bestemt at de europeiske NATO-landene skulle g\u00e5 sammen for \u00e5 etablere en felles treningsbase i USA hvor alle fremtidige jagerflygere i NATO skulle f\u00e5 sin utdanning. Tor p\u00e5peker at han var heldig som fikk v\u00e6re med p\u00e5 den f\u00f8rste kontingent med norske instrukt\u00f8rer som kom dit i desember 1981. Her var han instrukt\u00f8r p\u00e5 T-38 frem til midten av 1985.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Etter at han kom hjem igjen til Norge fikk han utsjekk p\u00e5 F-16 f\u00f8r han igjen vendte tilbake til 334 skvadron i Bod\u00f8, denne gang som nestkommanderende. Selv om dette var hans gamle skvadron, kjente han seg ikke riktig igjen ettersom de fleste skvadronkameratene hans fra tiden f\u00f8r Shappard hadde forlatt Luftforsvaret til fordel for en sivil flygerjobb. Dette var medvirkende til at han ogs\u00e5 s\u00f8kte seg til SAS hvor han begynte \u00e5 fly senh\u00f8sten 1986.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Etter at han begynte i SAS var han med i vernepliktig l\u00f8nnet korps i en del \u00e5r. Dette f\u00f8rte til at han var tilbake i Luftforsvaret hvert eneste \u00e5r gjennom en lengre periode, og tjenestegjorde som liaison-offiser b\u00e5de i H\u00e6ren, Sj\u00f8forsvaret og for utenlandske avdelinger under de st\u00f8rre NATO-\u00f8velsene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tor Honningsv\u00e5g ble intervjuet av Sondre B.
